Norwich City Council skateboarding ban shrinks for now

You may remember that some weeks ago on WoodPlusWheels there was a post about Norwich, UK, attempting to pass a by-law and ban skateboarding in its city-centre. This story has been rumbling along and the councillors of Norwich City Council cabinet have been postulating as to how to see their dreamed-up ban passed as a by-law. The reverse yellow-brick road of good intentions that has led to this bizarre ban was an attempt by NCC to stop skateboarding on the city’s war memorial: a valiant pursuit. This somehow materialised into a ban on a massive area (see the first draft map below) of the city which has since been scaled down.

WPW spoke with some skateboarders skating outside City Hall within the grounds of the proposed by-law zone.
